In Vijay’s career, the film Poove
Unakkaga which released in 1996, would always hold a special pride of
place as that was the movie which gave him a huge reach among the masses
of Tamil Nadu. Vikraman directed Poove Unakkaga, which ran for more
than 200 days and made Vijay a bankable star.
When Vikraman was asked if he had plans of doing another film with Vijay, he said that such an opportunity almost worked out 10 years back when Vijay was the first choice to play the lead in Vikraman’s 2002 movie Unnai Ninaithu, which was later done by Suriya, opposite Laila and Sneha.
Vijay had even shot for a couple of songs for this movie but for reasons best known to Vijay and the director, he could not continue his participation in this movie. The media kept speculating on a number of reasons for this breakup but the duo maintained a studious silence.
He is nevertheless happy with the progress and reach of Vijay now, as a true well-wisher. He also maintains that Vijay still holds him in high regard.
