court today

It seems like almost a given these days with Tamil films or filmmakers resorting to judicial assistance for issues pertaining to their projects and today was not short of its dose of legal happenings.

Ever since Mani Ratnam’s Kadal failed to set the cash registers ringing, its distributors were up in arms demanding compensation. Earlier this morning Mannan Films has supposedly filed a case against Mani Ratnam at a local police station with regard to the economic loss they had to bear with, due to the film. Meanwhile it is heard that Mani Ratnam himself has sought police protection for his home fearing the possibility of protests arising from the issue of compensation.

Elsewhere, the court has advised Bhagyaraj, Santhanam and Rama Narayanan to try and sort out their differences regarding the plagiarism claims made on the makers of Kanna Laddu Thinna Aasaiya. The court has scheduled its next hearing on March 6th and hopes that the two parties can find closure by themselves before that.
